Montreal choreographer/performer Sarah Bild follows an intuitive stream of physical imagery to create deeply textured and organic works of dance. Her visually impressive solo and group works, presented for the last 25 years in venues and festivals across Canada, raise questions about the human presence on this planet.
Sarah Bild’s trio Plus Vrai, produced by Danse-Cité in 2013, was widely appreciated for its compositional intricacy and artistic maturity.
Sarah Bild is the first improviser certified to teach Action Theater™ in Quebec. She is part of the faculty at l’École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and is invited to teach and choreograph in many training programs across Canada.
In 2015, her 50+ project addressed the representation of the aging female body on stage. This work brought her investigations inward to reclaiming her own body through improvisation in performance.
In 2016, Sarah Bild began performing her research in outdoor locations. Her Wall Series (2017) was presented along a wall in Montreal’s Mile-End district as part of the T/S Festival. With She Wanted (2018), an intimate piece around a table for only two spectators at a time, Bild shares a personal story evoking motherhood, art practice and fleeting time. She presented the work close to 60 times between January and June 2019.
